1.2" Fossil Horse (Mesohippus) Jaw Section - South Dakota

This is a jaw section with two teeth from the primitive horse Mesohippus, from the Scenic Member of the Brule Formation in South Dakota. One tooth is unerupted, indicating that this jaw belonged to a subadult! It is Oligocene in age, or approximately 32 million years old.
