12" Fossil Goniatite & Orthoceras Tray/Platter

This is a 12" wide decorative platter/tray made out of rock containing 390 million year old Orthoceras and Goniatite fossils quarried in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. This tray would look great as a decorative centerpiece on a table, as a serving tray or even hung on a wall. It's about 1/2" thick, weighs just under 5 lbs and the surface has been highly polished.

Goniatites are a type of cephalopod very similar to a primitive ammonite while Orthoceras are straight cephalopod. Those fossils are very common in the rocks around Erfoud, Morocco and local craftsman quarry the stone and use it for creating stoneware and other decorative items.
