2.05" Allosaurus Tooth In Matrix - Skull Creek Quarry

This is a large 2.05" long tooth tip of Allosaurus fragilis from the Skull Creek Quarry near Dinosaur, CO. It was left partially embedded in the sandstone matrix in which it was found. The tooth has been stabilized to prevent breakage and there is restoration to .5" of the tip. The tooth has some extensive geological distortion that makes it a testament to the earth's forces.

It comes from the Salt & Pepper Quarry at Skull Creek, near Dinosaur Colorado. This tooth came from a sandy layer in the quarry about a meter below the layers that contain articulated dinosaur remains. This sandy layer contains teeth and tumbled bones fragments but no articulation, most likely representing an event such as a flood.
