2.1" Macrocrinus Crinoid - Crawfordsville, Indiana
This is a nice 2.1" long Macrocrinus mundulus crinoid fossil from the famous Witherspoon Quarry near Crawfordsville, Indiana. It's very 3d and displays a lot of surface detail. The quality of preparation on this fossil is exquisite - using skillful air-abrasion techniques under a stereo microscope.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.
It is believed that crinoids from the Ramp Creek Limestone were buried in sediment from nearby deltas during storms. The resulting siltstone deposits are soft enough that fossils can be extracted in exquisite, three-dimensional relief.
