2.5" Cretaceous Sawfish (Onchosaurus) Rostral Barb - Morocco

This is an uncommon rostral barb/tooth from Onchosaurus marocanus a type of Cretaceous aged sawfish. It is Upper Cretaceous, in age or approximately 66-72 million years old and was collected from the phosphate beds in the Oulad Abdoun Basin of Morocco. There are two repaired cracks in the barb, hence the bargain price.

It comes from the massive phosphate deposits in the Oulad Abdoun Basin near Khouribga, Morocco. These deposits are mined for phosphate, one of Morocco's biggest exports. The fossils are collected as a byproduct of the mining operations, saving them from certain destruction by the rock crusher.
