2.98" Auriculatus Fossil Shark Tooth - Morocco
This is a serrated tooth of the mega-toothed shark, Carcharocles auriculatus. It is believed Carcharocles auriculatus was closely related to the Megalodon but lived nearly 10-20 million years earlier.
This tooth was collected from the Late Eocene aged deposits of the Western Sahara Desert in Morocco. It's 2.98" long and while the serrations are a bit worn, most are still visible. Like nearly all of these teeth which are found fractured in the ground there is repair work to the root and cusps.
