3.2" Fossil Whale Ear Bone - Miocene
This is a 3.2" fossilized whale inner ear bone (Tympanic Bulla) that is Miocene in age. It was collected in the Southeast United States where they are found associated with Megalodon teeth and other fossil shark teeth. The crystals at the narrow end are likely the fossilized anchor of a barnacle that was attached at the time the bone was buried.
