4.0" Fossil Whale Ear Bone - Miocene
This is a 4.0" fossilized whale inner ear bone (Tympanic Bulla) that is Miocene in age. It was collected in the Southeast United States where they are found associated with Megalodon teeth and other fossil shark teeth. This specimen has a fossilized hold fast from a marine algae or plant that attached around the time of fossilization. The white areas are the remains of mollusks that attached after fossilization.
