Pennsylvanian Fossil Horsetail (Sphenophyllum) Plate - Kentucky

This is a 5.3" wide plate that contains herbaceous horsetail (Sphenophyllum sp.) fossil leaves, collected from the Breathitt Formation of Leslie County, Kentucky. Sphenophyllum is an extinct genus of herbaceous horsetails from the Late Carboniferous, Pennsylvanian aged forests that formed the coal shales of Eastern Kentucky and Ohio.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.
