5.4" Miocene Fossil Scallop (Chesapecten) - Virginia
This is an enchanting fossil scallop (Chesapecten nefrens) that was collected from the Miocene age Calvert Formation in Westmoreland Co., Virginia. The surrounding rock has been completely cleaned away from both halves, and each is accompanied by an acrylic display stand.
This scallop has a few small chips around the outer edge but is in otherwise excellent condition.
