8.2" Pennsylvanian Fossil Fern (Sphenopteris) Plate - Kentucky

 
This is a fossil fern (Sphenopteris) plate from the Breathitt Formation of Leslie County, Kentucky. This plate contains a stalk and a multiple pinnules (branch of leaflets). Sphenopteris is an extinct genus of fern that reproduced from seed as opposed to sporophyte reproduction of most modern ferns.

Comes with an acrylic display stand.
