.8" Fossil Leaf (Cedrelospermum) - Green River Formation, Utah
This is a .8" long fossil leaf (Cedrelospermum) from the Eocene aged Green River Formation of Utah. Cedrelospermum are in the same family as elms. They produce a seed that has a wing on it that causes the seed to spin as it falls from the tree.
While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse flora.
