Agatized Fossil Pine (Seed) Cone From Morocco

Here is a well preserved fossil seed cone from the Sahara Desert of Morocco, west of Boujdour. These cones have yet to be described to the genus and species is unknown. It's Eocene in age, so somewhere between 34 and 56 million years old. The fossil cone has been replaced by silica or agatized and is very 3D. There is a lot of preserved details including well defined seeds still in place. Really a cool plant fossil.
