Bargain Enrolled Drotops Trilobite - 5 1/2" Around

This is an large, enrolled specimen of the trilobite Drotops megalomanicus. Many types of trilobites could enroll for defense and were often preserved that way. It's 2.7 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches long, around the curve. It was found on the surface so there is quite a bit of weathering to the shell. It's very solid, and it's cool to be able to hold a 350 million year old enrolled trilobite the size of tennis ball in your hand.

One of the most striking features of this trilobites is the large schizochroal (multi-faceted) eyes which would have given it a nearly 360 degree field of vision.
