Bargain Enrolled Drotops Trilobite - 6" Around

This is a large, enrolled specimen of the trilobite Drotops megalomanicus. Many types of trilobites could enroll for defense and were often preserved that way. It's 2.9 inches wide and 6 inches long, around the curve. It was found on the surface so there is quite a bit of weathering to the shell. It's very solid, and it's cool to be able to hold a 350 million year old enrolled trilobite the size of tennis ball in your hand.

One of the most striking features of this trilobites is the large schizochroal (multi-faceted) eyes which would have given it a nearly 360 degree field of vision. It also has a very bumpy exoskeleton, in particularly on it's head.
