Bargain Metacanthina (Asteropyge) Trilobite
This is an inexpensive example of the trilobite, Metacanthina issoumourensis often referred to as an "Asteropyge" or “Kayserops”. The dark colored shell contrasts nicely against the light colored rock. The eye facets and and shell detail can easily been seen.
I purchased this trilobite as part of a large batch of partially prepared trilobites and did the finishing preparation on it myself. There is a little missing shell on the top of each eye and one of the genal spine tips is broken but it's otherwise complete. There is only very minor restoration to touch up a few surface dings on it's head from the initial preparation.
