Fossil Allophylus Leaf - Green River Formation

This is a fossil leaf from the plant Allophylus flexifolia. Allophyllus is a genus of flowing plants in the Sapindaceae family, members of which still survive today. It is Eocene in aged and comes from the Green River Formation. The dark preservation contrasts well against the lighter shale matrix.
