Fossil Starfish (Petraster) & Edrioasteroids (Spinadiscus) - Morocco

 
 
This is a .85" wide Ordovician starfish (Petraster) fossil associated with four edrioasteroids (Spinadiscus lefebvrei). They comes from the Kataoua Formation near Kaid Errami, Morocco. The specimen shows an amazing amount of detail and the natural, orange coloration is due to the oxidization of iron pyrite.
