7" Cut Ammonite Fossil (Half) - Agatized

Here is an exquisite cut and polished Cleoniceras ammonite fossil from the Cretaceous of Madagascar. These fossils exhibit gorgeous mineralization within the chambers, each separated by white calcite scepta (divisions). The reverse side has a very beautiful, mother of pearl look to it. This highly polished, exotic ammonite makes a superb display piece with tremendous historical appeal.

Comes with an acrylic display stand.

Ammonites are an extinct group of marine invertebrate animals which died out at the end of the Cretaceous period. These mollusks are more closely related to living coleoids (i.e. octopuses, squid, and cuttlefish) than they are to shelled nautiloids such as the living Nautilus species.
