Bargain Stalk-Eyed Asaphus Kowalewskii Trilobite - 2.6"

This is a large, prone specimen of the long, stalk-eyed trilobite Asaphus kowalewskii. It is Middle Ordovician in age and was collected at the Vilpovitsy quarry in the St. Petersburg region of Russia. The stalk eyes likely allowed to survey it's surroundings while remaining buried in the mud. The tail has been prepared free of the matrix.

Like basically all of the trilobites from these quarries there is some shell restoration as the shell tends to flake during collection. There is 10% shell restoration, mainly on the tail.
