Two Orange Declivolithus Trilobite (Pos/Neg Split) Morocco
This is a really spectacular double of the of the Trinucleid trilobite Declivolithus from Morocco. Specimens this nice are rare, as most are compressed and missing much of the detail. It is very inflated and has a natural, orange preservation due to the oxidiation of iron pyrite which had replaced the fossil. The larger specimen is 1.95" wide and they are preserved right next to each other on a 5.1x4.9" piece of limestone. Both the positive and negative split are included.
This trilobite has really dramatic cephalic pits along it's "head shield". It's unknown the exact purpose of these pits, they could have had sensory purposes or aided in filter feeding.
