Lot: 3" Perisphinctes Ammonite Fossils - 10 Pieces

This is a wholesale lot of 10 Late Jurassic, Perisphinctes ammonite fossils from Sakaraha, Madagascar. They are in the 3 to 3 1/4" size range and the entire lot weighs just under lbs. These ammonites are unpolished and unworked in a rough state.

At the lot price each ammonite is $6.50 each and they can easily retail for 2-3x that amount on average.

Ammonites were predatory cephalopod mollusks that resembled squids with spiral shells. They are more closely related to living octopuses, though their shells resemble that of nautilus species. True ammonites appeared in the fossil record about 240 million years ago during the Triassic Period. The last lineages disappeared 65 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous.
