Moldavites from Besednice
This deposit is situated 25 km south of České Budějovice at the foothills of the Slepičí Hills. It was described after a single moldavite find in 1943, but was considered to be discovered by Mr. Rudolf Piša in 1965. Collectors also refer to this deposit as Ježkovna.
At this location, splash-forms are quite frequent in disk, droplet, and dumbbell shapes. These shapes are the most prevalent, especially those found in Ježkovna, with their rich and deep texture. The particular matte, shine, beautiful green color, and quality of texture that this particular moldavite possesses is unprecedented in other deposits. In fact, moldavites from this location are some of the most valued specimens and are often inserted in their natural forms into jewelry.

About Moldavite - A Rare Tektite
Moldavite is a tektite, a projectile glass formed as terrestrial silicates were super-heated, thrown into the air, and rapidly cooled after a meteorite impact. Moldavites themselves may be as old as 15 million years old. Moldavite glass often appears as a translucent forest green, though it can occur in lighter shades of olive green and, occasionally, yellow-green. True moldavite is exceptionally rare, occurring only across central Europe, primarily the Czech Republic and Germany. The Ries and Steinheim Impact Craters are thought to be the birthplace of moldavite, as location and age are consistent across the glass and craters. Because of its rarity, moldavite is often replicated, so finding real, authentic moldavite is difficult.
