1.8" Brucite (New Find) - Pakistan

This beautiful mushroom shaped specimen of translucent neon-yellow brucite measures 1.8" long, and includes small amounts of white barite and matrix association on what could be aesthetically considered the bottom of the speciemn. The intense color displayed by this crystal aggregation is a perfect example of the quality of color that these crystals can present.

Brucite, a mineral composed of Mg(OH)2, comes in all ranges of colors depending on locality. Typically it forms in subparallel aggregates of plates as well as tabular crystals, each of which can be fibrous to elastic in rigidity. Brucite from Killa Saifullah District, Balochistan, Pakistan typically displays a vibrant yellow-green color, some comparative to a bright yellow highlighter.
