2.1" Polished Fuchsite Sphere - Madagascar

This is a 2.1" wide sphere formed from fuchsite chert. It has been polished to a mirror-like finish and was collected and sculpted in Madagascar. The blue-green coloration is wonderful and the flakes of pyrite and muscovite give the sphere a unique sparkle.

Comes with the pictured display stand.

Fuchsite chert also commonly referred to as "Dragon Stone" is cryptocrystalline quartz stone metamorphosed from Fuchsite. It was formed when the Fuchsite vein was subjected to intense pressure and dissolution from super hot ground waters which partially dissolved the Fuchsite into a silica solution, forming large boulders. Much of the material retains the emerald green coloring of Fuchsite, but can also be found in lighter shades of green. Fuchsite, also known as chrome mica, is a chromium rich variety of the mineral muscovite.

Silicon Dioxide, also known as SiO2 or Quartz, is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's crust. Quartz crystals generally grow in silica-rich, hot watery solutions called hydrothermal environments, at temperatures between 100°C and 450°C, and usually under very high pressure. Quartz veins are formed when open fissures are filled with hot water during the closing stages of mountains forming, and can be hundreds of millions of years old.
