2.7" Epidote Crystal Cluster - Peru
This is a beautiful epidote crystal cluster that formed from an epidote encrusted, pistachio-green matrix. This specimen was collected from Peru, however the specific mine from which it was collected is unknown. Based on the structure of the epidote crystals and the matrix, I'd say it likely came from the Lima Department or Pisco Province of Peru.
Epidote is a green, silicate mineral that is commonly found in regionally metamorphosed rocks. It often forms lustrous, elongated and interconnected crystals that are highly coveted by collectors. While nearly all epidote is green it may take on many different shades and tones from yellowish to deep green.
