4.8" Polished Blue Caribbean Calcite Obelisk - Pakistan

This is a 4.8" tall obelisk (tower) made from blue Caribbean calcite that was collected from the Balochistan Province along the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The entire specimen has been polished to a glossy finish with a flat cut base.

Caribbean Calcite, also marketed under the name "Blue Aragonite", is a blue calcite and aragonite formation thats brown and blue coloration resembles a Caribbean coastline. It comes from a carbonate mineral deposit that was discovered in 2019, along the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan, in the Balochistan province. The blue colored mineral is calcite, while the white-brown material is aragonite.

Calcite and aragonite are two different forms of Calcium Carbonate. Calcite is the stable form, whereas aragonite is metastable. When heated over a long time period aragonite will ultimately transform into calcite.
