7.5" Tall, Polychrome Jasper Freeform - Madagascar

This is a unique, hand polished piece of Polychrome (Picture) Jasper found in the deserts of Madagascar. It's 7.5" tall and has been polished from its original rough/natural state. Very interesting patterns of pastel blues, tans, and oranges. There also look to be small formations of pyrite throughout the specimen, best observed by the small sphere-like inclusions that have a metallic luster under the light.

The base has been cut flat to allow for aesthetic presentation.

Polychrome jasper (also known as desert jasper) is known as one of the rarest forms of jasper and is only mined from a single location in Madagascar. The jasper deposits are typically in ribbon like formations, and are almost always multicolored. The color presented by this mineral is commonly an earthy purple, tan and pink, however teal polychrome jasper is one of the more sought after and desired colors.
