Chevkinite is a rare, dark, lustrous, titanosilicate mineral rich in rare earth elements (REEs), often found as black prismatic crystals in evolved igneous rocks like syenites and granites, known for its complex formula containing REEs, iron, titanium, and silicon. Chevkinite is named after the Chief of Staff of the Russian Corps of Mining Engineers, Konstantin Vladimirovich Chevkin. It's part of the chevkinite mineral group, with chevkinite-(Ce) being the most common member, often associated with radioactivity and studied for its role in concentrating elements like Cerium, Lanthanum, and Neodymium.
