WAVELLITE SPECIMENS

Wavellite is widely known for its green radial crystal formations that for many years have been referred to as "cat's-eye" by local collectors. It is often found as green crystals that can vary in color intensity, ranging from dark emerald green to pale green depending on conditions during formation. While it may be best known for its spherical radiating crystal formations, it has also been found as botryoidal crusts and stalactitic deposits. Wavellite is most commonly found within cracks of aluminum-rich metamorphic rock and phosphate deposits.

Wavellite is a phosphate mineral with the chemical formula Al3(PO4)2(OH)3·5H2O.
