1.4" Fossil Three-Toed Horse Tooth - Bone Valley, Florida
This is a 1.4" long Pliocene/Miocene-aged fossil three-toed horse tooth collected in Bone Valley, Florida. These teeth are commonly found associated with fossils from many other Late Miocene and early Pliocene (ice age) mammals. It is accompanied by a riker mount display case.
Horses evolved in the Americas and spread to Asia and Europe. Many species have been described from the fossil record in North America and their relationships are still being debated. For this reason, assigning taxonomic identity is very difficult.
