1.6" Fossil Leaf (Caesalpinia) - Green River Formation, Utah

This is an Eocene aged fossil leaf of Caesalpinia pecorae, a species of divi divi tree. The leaf is 1.6" long and on a piece of shale. It is nicely preserved with crisp edges and a nice dark color. Fine details are faint, but can be seen.

It comes from the Green River Formation in Uintah County, Utah. While this formation is best known for well-preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain very diverse flora and insect fauna.

Comes with an acrylic display stand.
