The Pleistocene Epoch, which lasted from about 2.6 million to 11,700 years ago, is the period during which many large mammals, including deer, roamed Florida. During the Pleistocene, sea levels were much lower than today, causing Florida to be larger and more diverse. This led to the preservation of various fossils, including deer antlers.
