are twenty fossil belemnite rostrums from the Jurassic-age deposits of Germany. They've been meticulously prepped to bring them out in high relief against the rock. The entire specimen measures 11 x 8.7" and the largest rostrum is 4.2" long.

Comes with an acrylic/metal display stand. There are spots of gap fill restoration on each belemnite where pieces chipped away during the removal of the hard surrounding rock.

Belemnites are probably the most well known extinct cephalopod after the ammonites. They lived during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods and are fairly common fossils found throughout the world. They had a hard, internal, cone-shaped structure that is often preserved as a fossil, though it is not technically a shell. They had ten arms but, unlike modern squid, these arms had small hooks instead of suckers.
