2.15" Fossil Oak Leaf (Quercus) - Green River Formation, Utah

This is an Eocene aged fossil leaf of Quercus petros, a species of oak. The leaf is 2.15" long and on a piece of shale. It is nicely preserved with crisp edges and a nice brown color. Fine details are faint, but can be seen.

It comes from the Green River Formation in Uintah County, Utah. While this formation is best known for well-preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain very diverse flora and insect fauna.

Comes with an acrylic display stand.
