2.5" Asaphus Cornutus Trilobite Fossil - Russia

This is a 2.5" long, asaphid trilobite (Asaphus cornutus) fossil from the St. Petersburg Region of Russia. It was found at the Vilpovitsy quarry and is Lower Ordovician in age, or approximately 460 million years old.

It has been prepared so that it looks like it is ready to crawl off of the limestone. There is about 12% shell restoration on this trilobite, mainly on the center of the tail and axis. This amount of restoration is pretty typical on these asaphid trilobites as the shell tends to flake during collection, or they are found with some weathering on the surface.
