2.5" Fossil Insect Plate - Green River Formation, Utah

This 2.5" wide piece of shale contains a detailed fly fossil with preserved proboscis (order Diptera), what appears to be a partial water strider (family Gerridae), and a partial unidentified leaf, collected from the Green River Formation of Uintah County, Utah. While this formation is best known for well preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.

Comes with an acrylic stand.
