2.55" Fossil Shark Tooth (Serratolamna) - Morocco
This is a fossil tooth of the shark Serratolamna. Serratolamna is probably the most ornate of the mackerel sharks and has very distinctive double side cusps. Teeth of this quality are rare and quite desirable, as the aforementioned side cusps are so frequently damaged during their many years beneath the earth. One of the cusps on one side of this tooth is missing.
These teeth are collected during massive phosphate mining operations. Teeth of Serratolamna are less common than Otodus fossils at the mines, and the vast majority of them are small and broken.
