2.9" Fossil Crab (Zanthopsis) - Eocene, London Clay

This is a fossil Zanthopsis crab from the London Clay Formation on the Isle of Sheppey, England. It is early Eocene in age or approximately 52 million years old. The shell preservation on this specimen is quite nice and the texture of the chitin is very apparent. Much of the underside anatomy and four partial legs are exposed and well prepared- so well prepared you could sex the crab. A fun and interesting specimen.
