.29" Ceratopsid Tooth - Two Medicine Formation

This is a tooth from a ceratopsid found in the Two Medicine Formation (Judith River Group) of Eastern Montana. The fossil is .29" long and nicely preserved with beautiful enamel. The tooth has a flat area from feeding wear which is quite common with dinosaur teeth. Dinosaurs shed their teeth throughout their lives and ceratopsians had dental batteries containing hundreds of teeth that were constantly growing. The tooth also has a clean break on one edge where it separated from the rest of the tooth. This tooth has no repair or restoration.

Within the Judith River Group there are multiple ceratopsian genus and species and with just a single bone or tooth it is hard to differentiate between them and give a definitive identification.
