29" Fossil Brittle Star & Carpoid Mortality Plate - Morocco

This is a 29.5" wide mortality plate of Ordovician aged brittle stars (Ophiura) and carpoids from the Kataoua Formation of Morocco. There are approximately 14 brittle stars and six carpoids present. The fossils have a natural, bright orange coloration, caused by the oxidization of iron pyrite which originally preserved the fossils. There are several repaired cracks in the piece, but only minor restoration along the repairs.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.
