3.5" Fossil Dinosaur (Tenontosaurus) Caudal Vertebra - Montana
This is a 3.5" long iguonodontian dinosaur (Tenontosaurus tilleti) caudal (tail) vertebra from the Early Jurassic-aged Cloverly Formation in Carbon County, Montana. It's beautifully preserved and quite dense. A portion of the neural canal remained intact and the bone is free of repair.

About Tenontosaurus
Tenontosaurus is a genus of iguanodontian ornithopod dinosaur. It had an unusually long, broad tail, which like its back was stiffened with a network of bony tendons. Its long forelimbs and short, broad hands suggest that it walked on all fours, although it was probably able to rear on its back legs when feeding or fighting. Tenontosaurus is best known for having been discovered alongside remains of the theropod, Deinonychus, indicated there was a prey/predator relationship between the two species.
