About Metasequoia

The Metasequoia genus was long believed to be extinct and known only from the fossil record until a remarkable discovery in 1941 revealed a living population in China. This extraordinary find made the dawn redwood one of the most famous examples of a “living fossil” — a species once thought lost to time, yet still surviving in a limited modern range.
