4.3" Seed Fern Frond (Laveineopteris?) - Mazon Creek

This is a very well defined of a fossil frond of the seed fern, possible Laveineopteris?. It comes from the famous Mazon Creek Lagerstätte. It has remarkable detail and contrasts very well with the ironstone nodule that it is preserved in. These ironstone nodules have been collected for decades from the spoil heaps of abandoned coil mines near Braidwood, Illinois. Both the positive and negative side of the nodule is included.
