4.7" Fossil Dinosaur (Thescelosaurus) Dorsal Vertebra - Montana
This is an exceptionally well preserved, 4.7" tall dorsal vertebra from the ornithischian dinosaur, Thescelosaurus neglectus, collected from the Late Cretaceous Hell Creek Formation in Powder River County, Montana. The bone preservation is fantastic, with both transverse processes, the spinous process, both prezygapophyses, and one postzygapophysis remaining mostly intact.
It is accompanied by the pictured wood display stand.
There are a couple repaired cracks through the three processes with minimal gap fill restoration required. Both prezygapophyses have repaired cracks near their bases, and the same can be said for the left postzygapophysis. The restoration makes up approximately 1% of this spectacular dinosaur fossil.

About Thescelosaurus
Thescelosaurus was a small ornithopod dinosaur that appeared at the very end of the Late Cretaceous period in North America. Many specimens' preservation and completeness indicate that Thescelosaurus may have preferred to live near streams.
This bipedal ornithopod is known from several partial skeletons and skulls, all of which indicate adult lengths between 2.5 and 4.0 meters (8.2 to 13.1 feet) on average. It had sturdy hind limbs, small wide hands, and a head with an elongated pointed snout. Their teeth and jaw morphologies suggest a primarily herbivorous diet.
