4.9" Fossil Sauropod Dinosaur Caudal Vertebra - Wyoming
This is a beautiful, 4.9" tall sauropod dinosaur caudal vertebra, collected from the famous Bone Cabin Quarry in Wyoming. It's tough to tell for certain which species this comes from as isolated vertebrae between species can appear very similar. The vertebra would have been located along the distal half of its tail, giving you a basic idea of how incredibly massive this animal was.
Comes with an acrylic display stand to assist with presentation.
There are several repaired cracks and glue stabilized fractures throughout this vertebra. While the neural canal is fairly crushed, it is visible along each end and is still filled with rock.

The Bone Cabin Quarry has historical significance because it was discovered in 1897 and excavated by the American Museum of Natural History from 1898 through 1905. It lies near the famous Como Bluff and got its name from a nearby sheepherder's cabin built entirely out of fossil dinosaur bones. This quarry now lies on private land, where it continues to be excavated.
