4.9" Gorgeous Fossil Crab (Pulalius) - Washington State

This is a masterfully prepared example of the Late Eocene aged fossil crab Pulalius vulgaris. These crabs are found within hard concretions (a mass of rock that forms around organic manner) that erode out of the Lincoln Creek Formation, which must be broken open to find the crab. The crab must then be prepared from the hard concretion using mechanical tools, a very time consuming process.

There are a couple of repaired cracks through the fossil/nodule where it split following collection. A repaired crack can be found along the base of the left claw and there is some repair and restoration to one of the legs on the animal's right side. Otherwise the specimen is in excellent condition. It is accompanied by an acrylic display stand.

This specimen was collected in June 2026.
