4.9" Paraceraurus Trilobite Association - Spectacular

This is a spectacular display piece with a 4.9" Paraceraurus exsul trilobite, along with two Asaphus trilobites (one ventral) and a cystoid. These trilobites come from the Vilpovitsy quarry, near St. Petersburg Russia. I purchased this piece back in the late 90's and had it in my personal collection since then.

All of the trilobites are nicely prepared and the ventral Asaphus with it's hypostome (mouthplate) still in place in particular of interest. The genal spines of the Paraceraurus have been prepared free standing and it's above average size for the species.

Please note: This is not a natural association. The Asaphus trilobites were composited onto the plate to create a more aesthetic display. The vast majority of multi-species plates you see out of Russia particularly ones prepared in the 90's and early 2000's are composites. Like nearly all of trilobites from these localities there is some restoration. The tips of both tail spines on the Paraceraurus have been restored as have the tips of the genal spines, and there is 5-10% shell restoration in total on the trilobite. There is some shell restoration on the tail of both Asaphus trilobites.
