5.4" Wide Stellascolites Trace Fossil (Arthropod Resting Area)

This is an interesting, Ordovician aged trace fossil known as Stellascolites. They are believed to be preserved resting zones of arthropod-type animals. They have a radiating starlike shape to them, and have been found in Ordovician aged sediments around the world.

This particular ichnofossil is 5.4" wide, and was found in the Erfoud region of Morocco. The fossil takes the form of a deep impression in the siltstone in which it was found.
