5.9" Fossil Salamander (Chelotriton) - Gračanica, Bosnia
This is an amazing 5.9" fossil salamander (Chelotriton paradoxus) from Bosnia-Herzegovina. It is a very well preserved specimen with excellent bone preservation. The rock that it was prepped from has been cut flat along its edges and measures 10.7 x 6.2". The rock in which the salamander was found in/on is rather soft and thin so a backing has been applied for stability.
Chelotriton is an extinct salamander that closely resembles two living salamanders; Tylototriton and Echinotriton.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.
Approximately 6-7% of this specimen has undergone restoration. Restoration includes ribs, phalanxes, and some surface restoration around the perimeter of the skull. There is a repaired crack through the middle of the fossil.
